For example, a healthy supplement vitamin with no GMO. Maybe the person who is browsing this platform everyday really concerns about their body images, their weight and heathy beauty products. That is when you have a niche market in mind and what kind of products to target your potential buyers.

Realize that the answer is not obvious sometimes. Consumers in this digital age are highly effected by social media contents. You can imagine that means a million of products are available to millions of people in just a finger tip.

If you are an online seller or start up business, you might want to know what type of products that young people love. Plus, their interest are always changing fast so you'd better catch up with those trends to stay ahead of the game.

  • Also you can conduct a small survey from promotional email of the famous fashion, heath and beauty brands.

  • Pay attention to the most seller items and styles.

  • Read customer reviews to know what features in a product that they are looking for. Find out how is sales and promotion offers make them feel. Customers' purchase motivation becomes the highlight of your brand strategy.

2. Pay attention to their behavior. How do customers buy from your business?

  • Do you reach your customers in person at store?

  • Do they buy from website? If so what are those platforms that they usually visit?

  • Do they hear from you on Facebook ads? or click on an Instagram link Or any other ads placement?

Offer a quick survey for your customer at store asking how they hear about the brand, help them sign up to receive newsletter from you. If your business has an online sites, attach a small survey after purchase transaction to find out where else that your customers shop. That way, you know your competitors and your consumers behavior to figure out direction for the next marketing campaigns.

Consumer behavior is the key of business in general and specially branding. Studying buying patterns is a strategy to have in hand how your customers purchase their products.

  • Are most of customers impulsive buyer or they actually consider before paying. The answer suggests a need for brand trust and reliability assurance.

  • What type of payments do they choose? By cash, by credit cards, or by payment service like PayPal, AfterPay and Karma. Payment indicates that your customers may have sensitivity to price.

  • Are these customers long term and loyal ones? Do they sign up for subscription or buying in bulk? It is important to have their contact listed on top for customer relationship management. This is a key turn point for your brand to have a trusting contract and long term commitment with these prospect customers who want to do further business.

3. Group up your customers. What are the criteria that set ideal customers apart?

You need to collect customer information and set up in CRM. With this support, you can track their shopping behavior and categorize customers into many groups based on their buying habit or the product line of their interest.

Your top customers are usually the one who often buy, being one of the loyal membership. You need to list them in prioritizing group who can benefit from many promotions, send gifts and thank you notes. Most ideal customers share similar to same demographic, lifestyle and gender. Your marketing team should create exclusive campaign to introduce special edition and innovative product line targeting at this group. That is a chance for making higher profits.

The next groups are regular customers who sometimes visit. One way to encourage them to buy more are offer sale and the right products at the right time. Have business analyst team to report sale and look at the common habits that all these regular customers have. For example, they all love your new Women vitamin for Hair, nails and Skin support and Berry Gummy bear. Most of them subscribes for monthly deliver, the rest are not. Send them email to make them sign up for monthly subscription.

The last group are new customers and potential customers (who usually are one time buyer). This relates back to research on how they know about your brand and why they need to buy your product. Create the brand recognition - credibility and trust. Grab this opportunity to impress your new buyers rather than oversee their potentials. Send them newsletters introducing about your brand to create awareness.
